Remos, a male, hatched the following day at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zoobotanicojerez.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jerez Zoo<\/a>. Both birds were fitted with identification rings and GPS transmitters before the journey to France, so conservation teams can monitor them once they leave the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On arrival, the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vautoursenbaronnies.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vautours en Baronnies<\/a> team transported the chicks to the release site, ran final checks and placed them in the hacking cave. Their sponsors were also there for the occasion \u2013 wildlife filmmaker Marie Amiguet is godmother to Pathos, and Franck Soulignac, President of the Dr\u00f4me Departmental Council, is godfather to Remos. The Vautours en Baronnies team monitors the site daily and puts out food every two days after sunset, keeping disturbance low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the time of release, the birds were 89 and 90 days old. The project involves partners across France and Europe, including members of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/es\/our-work\/captive-breeding\/bearded-vulture-eep\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bearded Vulture captive breeding network<\/a> coordinated by the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/es\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vulture Conservation Foundation.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For now, attention is on Pathos and Remos as they settle in above the Baronnies, and on the first flights that should follow within the coming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Restoring the Bearded Vulture Alpine and Pyrenean populations&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/es\/blog\/life-gypact-project-restoring-the-bearded-vulture-metapopulation-between-the-alps-and-the-pyrenees\/\">&nbsp;restore the Bearded Vulture metapopulation between the Alps and the Pyrenees<\/a>, the LIFE Gyp\u2019Act project plans to release 60 captive-bred juveniles in different locations across Southern France and the Pre-Alps. The LIFE Gyp\u2019Act builds on the legacy of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/es\/projects\/life-gypconnect\/\">LIFE GypConnect<\/a>&nbsp;and ensures the continuity of the conservation measures implemented so that Bearded Vultures continue to flourish.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXdTTBf2H1AMfWPmk8jMHDDsHr3u1vdP0LqIwaqIgSCHiYeXfi9-J7Ot0tVgK9R0uXBDUiuyoCzqWUqhAgYhN_h-glWdnSQxRUp5Ng_gqN4w88gQmRbGHQoICHCrSY5Ez8n2sYmMXg?key=LVpo1NbysAE2EkD5_UB4xg\" alt=\"LIFE GypACT Gyp\u2019Act logo\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gypact.fr\/life\/\">LIFE Gyp\u2019Act<\/a>&nbsp;is a 13M\u20ac project, co-funded by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/easme\/en\/life\">EU\u2019s LIFE programme,<\/a>&nbsp;that will run until 30 November 2028.
