But it seemed that the vulture needed some help recently, and the project team rushed to its rescue on Tuesday 26 November near the village of Svirkovo, Simeonovgrad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rescue&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cinereous Vultures Barnabie, Ultron and Ostrava-2 were released in Bulgaria within the framework of the Vultures Back To LIFE project and are closely monitored after their release. During the last few days, the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/greenbalkans.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Green Balkans<\/a>&nbsp;team received somewhat worrying data through the birds&#8217; satellite transmitters \u2013 the young vultures spent a long time on the same place, probably in distress.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of them, Barnabie, spent the whole night in a vineyard and after a field check, they captured the bird and transported it to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/greenbalkans-wrbc.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Green Balkans Rescue Centre<\/a>&nbsp;in Stara Zagora, where the vets discovered the bird had three fractures on its right wing. The vulture will now spend the next three weeks in the ICU of the wildlife rescue centre. For now, he is resting and treated with medicines, but he is not yet feeding on his own. We hope this significant vulture will recover soon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-1-81.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12759\" width=\"1036\" height=\"852\" srcset=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-1-81.jpg 670w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-1-81-300x247.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1036px) 100vw, 1036px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>14\/01\/2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The wing bandage was removed two weeks ago, and he moved to a larger cage. He is already eating on his own and recovering well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, he will never be able to fly again because the carpal joint of his right-wing has ankylosis after the rehabilitation. He will be given a chance to mate with a female partner from his species when he becomes sexually mature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vultures Back To LIFE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" src=\"http:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-2-53.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12760\" srcset=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-2-53.jpg 400w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-2-53-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by the wildlife conservation charity\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/greenbalkans.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Green Balkans<\/a>, with activities also implemented by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fwff.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna<\/a>, and bringing together partners from Bulgaria, Spain, Germany, and us here at the VCF,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/life-projects\/vultures-back-to-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vultures Back to LIFE<\/a>\u00a0aims to reintroduce the cinereous or Eurasian black vulture to Bulgaria.
