To support the integration of the species in Kotel Mountain, the project recently carried out some field activities to attract potential pairs.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vultures at Kotel Mountain<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-1-106.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13052\" width=\"1032\" height=\"689\" srcset=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-1-106.jpg 670w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-1-106-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1032px) 100vw, 1032px\" \/><figcaption>Cinereous Vultures and Griffon Vultures (c) Hristo Peshev (c) FWFF<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The first vulture species that was reintroduced at Kotel Mountain was the Griffon Vulture, and now it&#8217;s the turn to bring back the Cinereous Vulture. It seems that Kotel Mountain, as a part of the Balkan chain, is very much preferred by scavenging birds, because of the perfect mix of old forests and open area, where free-ranging sheep, horses, cattle and buffaloes graze.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Supporting the integration of Cinereous Vultures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Vultures Back to Life Part One\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/v8-Xx3aL284?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fwff.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna<\/a>&nbsp;is attempting to attract the Cinereous Vultures released in the Kotlenski Balkan region through building artificial nests on trees and placing them along with Cinereous Vulture models in the birds&#8217; release region. Hopefully, the nests will be occupied soon with their breeding season about to start and we will be able to see some chicks hatching in these artificial nests this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parts of the field activities within the project are carried out jointly with the Association of Arborists in Bulgaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vultures Back To LIFE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"214\" src=\"http:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-2-73.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13053\" srcset=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-2-73.jpg 320w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/image-2-73-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by the wildlife conservation charity\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/greenbalkans.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Green Balkans<\/a>, with activities also implemented by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fwff.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna<\/a>, and bringing together partners from Bulgaria, Spain and Germany,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/life-projects\/vultures-back-to-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vultures Back to LIFE<\/a>\u00a0aims to reintroduce the cinereous or Eurasian black vulture to Bulgaria.
