Although we at the Vulture Conservation Foundation (VCF) strive to help vultures daily, we are excited to invite vulture fans to join us in celebrating these magnificent and important birds collectively during this upcoming International Vulture Awareness Day (IVAD)<\/a> on 4 September! Here are five ways to get involved and show you support for vultures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Participate in an event<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of IVAD, people can find multiple events that provide insight into the world of the magnificent birds! We are holding an online talk and Q&A session called ‘All you need to know about Europe’s vultures<\/a>‘ that will enable participants to learn why we need vultures and how vulture populations are making a recovery in Europe. Other organisations globally are also planning several events mentioned on IVAD’s Activities Page<\/a>, from painting competitions to releases of rehabilitated vultures and vulture observation days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Organise a family activity <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With the pool of available material, families can easily organise educational activities for their children to celebrate vultures together in the comforts of their homes or out in nature. These materials vary, but they can all be easily printed off and carried out! From a Vulture Maze to Colouring Pages and the VCF’s Vulture Scavenger Hunt, check out these resources on IVAD’s Downloads Page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Raise Awareness <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

One of the best ways to raise awareness during IVAD is through social media. So, on the day, share your passion for vultures! You can write a post about your favourite vulture species or why you are fascinated by these birds. You can also support your message by using the Infographics we prepared discussing the Bearded, Cinereous, Egyptian and Griffon Vultures<\/a>. Don’t forget to use #IVAD2021 on your postings on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Make a pledge<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Pledge to become a vulture citizen scientist. Help us monitor vulture populations in the Alps through the\u00a0International Bearded Vulture Moni<\/a>toring Network<\/a>, the International Observation Day in October and in the Balkans with the annual Balkan Vulture counts.\u00a0Stay tuned to the VCF<\/a>\u00a0to be notified of these events.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Support vulture conservation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There are many organisations that work diligently and dedicatedly to protect and conserve vulture species, and there are different ways you can support them. It is always important to highlight the important work carried out by vulture conservationists and you can simply do that by spreading the message about their work and activities among your close friends and relatives or by posting on social media. If you can, another way to support vulture conservation is by donating to their cause. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
