For this reason, we express our sincere gratitude to all of you: partners,&nbsp;colleagues&nbsp;and supporters.&nbsp;<strong><em>Thank you<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;for standing with us this year. Your support shaped&nbsp;every success that follows, one&nbsp;project&nbsp;and&nbsp;one&nbsp;vulture&nbsp;at a time.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year we continued working&nbsp;for the conservation of all five vulture species across Europe. We strengthened our role in tackling threats, especially electrocution,&nbsp;collision&nbsp;and poisoning, in Europe and beyond.&nbsp;We&nbsp;expanded research,&nbsp;produced respected technical opinions,&nbsp;influenced policies, and achieved historic reintroductions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s&nbsp;dive into what we achieved together with our partners during this year. In many other projects we have seen great&nbsp;milestones and impactful results being achieved:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bearded Vulture LIFE: the historical return of Bearded Vultures&nbsp;to the Balkans&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>2025 proved to be a&nbsp;significant&nbsp;year for vultures in Bulgaria. Together with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/projects\/bearded-vulture-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bearded Vulture LIFE<\/a>&nbsp;project we achieved the historical reintroduction of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/vultures\/bearded-vulture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bearded Vultures<\/a>&nbsp;there&nbsp;after half a century of absence.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to the project efforts and the&nbsp;work of the VCF-led&nbsp;Bearded Vulture captive-breeding network,&nbsp;,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/a-historic-homecoming-bearded-vultures-will-return-to-bulgaria-after-50-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">three young Bearded Vultures were released in Sliven (Bulgaria) at the end of the spring<\/a>, two of them originating from breeding pairs in Ostrava Zoo,&nbsp;and one from a pair housed at Green&nbsp;Balkans&nbsp;centre&nbsp;in the country&nbsp;Unfortunately, only one of them&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/boev-the-first-independent-bulgarian-bearded-vulture-in-decades\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Boev<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;is now flying over the Balkans, bearing on his wings the hopes and efforts of the entire conservation community.&nbsp;One had to be recaptured, and the other died&nbsp;due to a bacterial infection&nbsp;shortly after being released.&nbsp;Lastly, towards the end of the year,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/bulgaria-adopts-national-action-plan-to-restore-the-bearded-vulture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bulgaria adopted its first National Action Plan for Bearded Vultures<\/a>, setting the policy and institutional framework for this reintroduction and for the conservation work that follows. This historic&nbsp;milestone&nbsp;represents&nbsp;the culmination of decades of work,&nbsp;by&nbsp;all the partners from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/projects\/bearded-vulture-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bearded Vulture LIFE<\/a>&nbsp;project, its predecessor&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/projects\/vultures-back-to-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vultures Back to LIFE,<\/a>&nbsp;the national conservation organisations&nbsp;and the entire Bearded Vulture conservation community.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1360\" src=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-7.png\" alt=\"\u00a9 Bruno Berthemy\" class=\"wp-image-40768\" style=\"width:567px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-7.png 2048w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-7-300x199.png 300w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-7-1024x680.png 1024w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-7-768x510.png 768w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-7-1536x1020.png 1536w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-7-18x12.png 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bearded Vulture \u00a9Bruno Berthemy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Still in Bulgaria, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/vultures\/cinereous-vulture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cinereous Vultures<\/a>&nbsp;population celebrated an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/another-successful-breeding-season-for-cinereous-vultures-in-bulgaria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">exceptionally successful reproductive season<\/a>: 12 breeding pairs produced 6 fledging chicks. The project also&nbsp;released a&nbsp;further&nbsp;17 Cinereous Vultures&nbsp;coming&nbsp;from wildlife&nbsp;rehabilitation centres in Extremadura,&nbsp;Spain.&nbsp;The presence of a healthy and growing breeding population of cinereous vultures, in 3 different colonies, only 7 years after the translocation and reintroduction of the first individuals, is a spectacular result.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">LIFE&nbsp;Gyp\u2019Act: the bridge between the Alps and the Pyrenees&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-medium is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/ubac-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\u201cUbac\u201d at the release site \u00a9 LIFE Gypact\" class=\"wp-image-40229\" style=\"width:368px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/ubac-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/ubac-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/ubac-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/ubac-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/ubac.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">\u201cUbac\u201d at the release site \u00a9 LIFE Gypact<br><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/projects\/life-gypact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LIFE Gyp\u2019Act<\/a>&nbsp;project, aiming&nbsp;to&nbsp;consolidate&nbsp;the Bearded Vulture population in the French Pre-Alps and the Massif Central,&nbsp;welcomed&nbsp;five&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/vultures\/bearded-vulture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bearded Vulture<\/a>&nbsp;chicks from the EEP.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/two-bearded-vultures-released-in-vercors-france\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Two of them were released in Parc Naturel&nbsp;R\u00e9gional&nbsp;du&nbsp;Vercors<\/a>&nbsp;(where, incidentally&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/the-bearded-vultures-of-vercors-a-fragile-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">two wild pairs bred&nbsp;successfully<\/a>)&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/young-bearded-vultures-ubac-and-ushuaia-successfully-adapt-to-life-the-wild-in-grands-causses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">three in Parc&nbsp;Naturel R\u00e9gional&nbsp;des Grands&nbsp;Causses<\/a>.&nbsp;The project incremented its efforts in tackling threats&nbsp;by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/wildlife-crime-academy-expands-network-of-advanced-investigators-with-cohort-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">joining the&nbsp;WildLIFE&nbsp;academy network<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;participating&nbsp;in its training courses.&nbsp;As a result, the project will soon&nbsp;establish&nbsp;France\u00b4s first&nbsp;official anti-poisoning dog unit, that will contribute to adequately investigate any future suspected&nbsp;poisoning incidents.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">LIFE GYPRESCUE: the first wild-hatched chick in&nbsp;five&nbsp;years&nbsp;in Corsica&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1066\" src=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-5.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-39109\" style=\"width:426px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-5.jpeg 1600w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-5-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-5-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-5-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-5-1536x1023.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image-5-18x12.jpeg 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Muntagnolu -Father of the wild-hatched chick <br>\u00a9 Martin Van Boone <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The isolated\u00a0Bearded Vulture\u00a0Corsican\u00a0population,\u00a0monitored\u00a0and safeguarded by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/projects\/life-gyprescue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LIFE GYPRESCUE<\/a>\u00a0team,\u00a0welcomed the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/a-wild-hatched-bearded-vulture-fledged-in-corsica-for-the-first-time-in-four-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first ever wild-hatched Bearded Vulture that hatched to a pair of captive-origin birds in Corsica<\/a>. Equally important and encouraging for the project,\u00a0it is\u00a0the first wild-hatched chick that successfully fledges in\u00a0the last 5\u00a0years on the island.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, thanks to the nest cameras installed in&nbsp;selected nests, the project&nbsp;monitored&nbsp;four&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/vultures\/bearded-vulture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bearded Vulture<\/a>&nbsp;pairs in their breeding efforts.&nbsp;The data collected, together with other&nbsp;information,&nbsp;will help guide future conservation actions.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">LIFE Rhodope Vulture:&nbsp;Cinereous Vultures&nbsp;establishing&nbsp;a foothold&nbsp;in the Eastern Rhodopes&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Cinereous-Vulture-pair-allopreening-c-Hansruedi-Weyrich.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30083\" style=\"width:508px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Cinereous-Vulture-pair-allopreening-c-Hansruedi-Weyrich.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Cinereous-Vulture-pair-allopreening-c-Hansruedi-Weyrich-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Cinereous-Vulture-pair-allopreening-c-Hansruedi-Weyrich-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Cinereous-Vulture-pair-allopreening-c-Hansruedi-Weyrich-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Cinereous-Vulture-pair-allopreening-c-Hansruedi-Weyrich-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Cinereous-Vulture-pair-allopreening-c-Hansruedi-Weyrich-18x10.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Cinereous Vultures \u00a9Hansruedi Weyrich<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/projects\/life-rhodope-vulture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LIFE Rhodope&nbsp;Vulture<\/a>&nbsp;continued its work on&nbsp;reintroducing&nbsp;the Cinereous Vulture population in the Eastern Rhodope Mountains&nbsp;(between Bulgaria and Greece)&nbsp;and&nbsp;on&nbsp;tackling wildlife crime. It&nbsp;released&nbsp;13 Spanish Cinereous Vultures in two groups:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/life-rhodope-vulture-release-cinereous-vultures-rhodope-mountains\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">one&nbsp;in April<\/a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/life-rhodope-vultures-releases-seven-cinereous-vultures-in-eastern-rhodopes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">second one in November<\/a>.&nbsp;It also&nbsp;sent a few relevant stakeholders&nbsp;to the&nbsp;WildLIFE&nbsp;Crime Academy network,&nbsp;to&nbsp;participate&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;training courses.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0breeding\u00a0season in the Eastern Rhodope Mountains revealed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/new-cinereous-vulture-pair-in-eastern-rhodopes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">three Cinereous Vultures pairs<\/a>, each formed by at least one reintroduced\u00a0individual, the first foothold of the species in this region of Bulgaria. One pair even laid an\u00a0egg but\u00a0had no success. The latest census,&nbsp;performed by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/projects\/life-safe-for-vultures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LIFE Safe for Vultures<\/a>&nbsp;project and its partners,&nbsp;confirmed the presence of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/record-griffon-vultures-census-2025-sardinia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">over 500 individuals and 120 reproductive pairs on the island<\/a>, which&nbsp;represents&nbsp;a 10% increase on last year\u00b4s figure.&nbsp;Moreover, the project monitoring&nbsp;activities&nbsp;confirmed the presence of an established group in south&nbsp;Sardinia, next to the most recent reintroduction site there, g<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/griffon-vultures-return-to-gennargentu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">iving&nbsp;hope&nbsp;that soon or later a new colony will be&nbsp;established&nbsp;there<\/a>, expanding&nbsp;considerably the&nbsp;species distribution on the island.&nbsp;Thanks to the collaboration with&nbsp;the&nbsp;Junta de&nbsp;Andaluc\u00eca&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;Amus&nbsp;centre in Villafranca de&nbsp;los&nbsp;Barros (Spain), the project&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/life-safe-for-vultures-third-release\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">released 33&nbsp;Spanish&nbsp;Griffon Vultures<\/a>&nbsp;in Southern&nbsp;Sardinia,&nbsp;within&nbsp;the framework of their restocking programme.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly,&nbsp;in May, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/technical-meeting-bearded-cinereous-vultures-reintroduction-sardinia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">feasibility study for the reintroduction of Bearded and Cinereous vultures in Sardinia was approved<\/a>.&nbsp;This important milestone&nbsp;is&nbsp;a significant recognition&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;efforts done by the LIFE Safe for Vultures project and its predecessors to make Sardinia a safe place for vultures through awareness, threat mitigation and food availability and safety measures.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">LIFE&nbsp;SUPport: an&nbsp;historical Management&nbsp;Plan&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-medium is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Griffon-Vultures-in-Croatia_LIFE-SUPport--300x225.png\" alt=\"Griffon Vultures perching on a tree \u00a9 LIFE SUPport\" class=\"wp-image-37236\" style=\"width:354px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Griffon-Vultures-in-Croatia_LIFE-SUPport--300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Griffon-Vultures-in-Croatia_LIFE-SUPport--768x576.png 768w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Griffon-Vultures-in-Croatia_LIFE-SUPport--16x12.png 16w, https:\/\/4vultures.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Griffon-Vultures-in-Croatia_LIFE-SUPport-.png 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Griffon Vultures perching on a tree \u00a9 LIFE SUPport<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/vultures\/griffon-vulture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Griffon Vultures<\/a>&nbsp;are a crucial element&nbsp;of the&nbsp;islands of Cres and&nbsp;KrK&nbsp;ecosystems and economy. The invaluable\u00a0work done by the project in mitigating threats and restocking the small and endangered island population\u00a0of\u00a0Griffon Vultures\u00a0with individuals coming\u00a0from\u00a0wildlife rehabilitation centres from\u00a0Spain, prevented the extinction of the species on the island. Nevertheless, Griffon Vultures are\u00a0not out of danger. On a more positive note, the project created an anti-poison dog unit to mitigate criminal poisoning\u00a0events and\u00a0prevent casualties among vultures, that has been actively\u00a0operating\u00a0across the island and\u00a0identifying\u00a0many suspected cases of poisoning, that are then\u00a0properly investigated\u00a0and acted upon by the authorities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To a new year of vulture conservation&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These\u00a0milestones, challenges and successes of 2025 traced the story\u00a0\u2013 our collective story \u2013\u00a0of vulture conservation in Europe.\u00a0One project and one vulture at the time we are contributing to the comeback and the conservation of vulture species across the continent.\u00a0However, our work is far from over.\u00a0Our vision of\u00a0thriving\u00a0European\u00a0vulture\u00a0populations\u00a0is\u00a0the light\u00a0that guides our
