{"id":5767,"date":"2018-09-15T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-09-15T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4vultures.org\/blog\/released-bearded-vultures-in-baronnies\/"},"modified":"2018-09-15T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-09-15T00:00:00","slug":"released-bearded-vultures-in-baronnies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/released-bearded-vultures-in-baronnies\/","title":{"rendered":"Captive-bred bearded vultures released in Baronnies doing well"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/\/content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/1536852481.jpg\" alt=\"Clapas, Drumana and Simay at a feeding station \" \/><figcaption>Clapas, Drumana and Simay at a feeding station <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p> Three months have passed since <a href=\"\/pt\/vultures\/bearded-vulture\/\">bearded vultures<\/a>\u00a0Clapas, Drumana and Simay were released as part of the <a href=\"\/pt\/life-projects\/gypconnect\/\">LIFE GYPCONNECT<\/a> project in the Baronnies Natural Regional Park and how are they doing?<\/p>\n<p> These bearded vultures were released at the beginning of the 2018 release season and since they fledged from their hacking nest they have been exploring their new home gradually.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> The more adventurous of the three, Clapas, left the\u00a0Baronnies at the end of July and went exploring the rest of the Alps, travelling around 100km west and was\u00a0recorded in the\u00a0Ecrins National Park.\u00a0Drumana and Simay, however are still seen around the Baronnies,\u00a0 taking full advantage of the supplementary feeding stations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Not only have they stayed close to the release site and the local feeding station, but they quickly discovered the location of the larger supplementary feeding site managed by\u00a0Vautours en Baronnies, which took the two 2017 released birds\u00a0Volcaire and Girun six months to discover.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> You can see the movements of the two birds <a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/our-work\/monitoring\/bearded-vulture-online-maps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p> <strong>LIFE GypConnect\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> Led by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lpo.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">League pour la Protection des Oiseaux (LPO)<\/a>, in partnership with the Vautours en Baronnies,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/life-projects\/gypconnect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LIFE GypConnect<\/a>\u00a0aims to establish a breeding population in the Massif Central and Department of the Dr\u00f4me. Releasing captive-bred Bearded Vultures into the wild at sites such as the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gypaetebarbu.fr\/life-gypconnect-en\/life-gypconnect-action-sites\/article\/grands-causses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Parc Naturel R\u00e9gional des Grands Causses<\/a>\u00a0e\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gypaetebarbu.fr\/life-gypconnect-en\/life-gypconnect-action-sites\/article\/les-baronnies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Parc Naturel R\u00e9gional des Baronnies Proven\u00e7ales<\/a>\u00a0will create a core population that will connect the two populations of the species in the Alps and Pyrenees. To facilitate movements between the new population and the Alpine and Pyrenean populations the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/life-projects\/gypconnect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LIFE GypConnect<\/a>\u00a0team is creating a network of supplementary feeding stations, and tackling threats such as poisoning, and collision and electrocution with the electricity infrastructure.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> In 2018 three birds were released in the Baronnies, building on the release of eight birds in 2017, four in the Grands Causses, two in the Baronnies and two in Vercors.
