A new paper was published this week on space use\/home range of the Egyptian Vulture (Neophron percnopterus) in Spain. The authors concluded that food availability, and principally, food predictability, determines ranging behavior of this species. Interestingly, places located far from nesting sites were used more frequently than some areas located closer. Their results also emphasized the importance of anthropogenic predictable sources of food (mainly vulture restaurants) in shaping the space use of this species.<\/p>\n
