{"id":7065,"date":"2018-07-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-07-16T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4vultures.org\/blog\/fifth-gypconnect-newsletter\/"},"modified":"2018-07-16T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-07-16T00:00:00","slug":"fifth-gypconnect-newsletter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/blog\/fifth-gypconnect-newsletter\/","title":{"rendered":"Latest edition of the LIFE GypConnect Newsletter"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/4vultures.dev.reformat.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/1531750557.jpg\" \/> <\/figure>\n<p> Nearly three years after the LIFE+ project GypConnect started, you can now read all about the exciting results from the project team in the latest newsletter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Highlights from GypConnect<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> In the latest newsletter you can read about the latest results of the bearded vulture captive breeding network, the \u2018Vulture Festival\u2019 held last May to celebrate the release of three young bearded vultures into the Baronnies, the movements of some of the reintroduced birds, including the fantastic news of Calandreto\u00a0 moving through to the Pyrenees, updates on the work being carried out to reduce some of the threats to bearded vultures and a report on the first GypConnect seminar which brought together\u00a0 ornithologists, scientists, park managers and farmers to discuss the positive links between farming and the conservation of vultures.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <strong>LIFE GypConnect<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Led by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lpo.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">League pour la Protection des Oiseaux (LPO)<\/a>, in partnership with the Vautours en Baronnies,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/life-projects\/gypconnect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LIFE GypConnect<\/a>\u00a0aims to establish a breeding population in the Massif Central and Department of the Dr\u00f4me. Releasing captive-bred Bearded Vultures into the wild at sites such as the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gypaetebarbu.fr\/life-gypconnect-en\/life-gypconnect-action-sites\/article\/grands-causses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Parc Naturel R\u00e9gional des Grands Causses<\/a>\u00a0e\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gypaetebarbu.fr\/life-gypconnect-en\/life-gypconnect-action-sites\/article\/les-baronnies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Parc Naturel R\u00e9gional des Baronnies Proven\u00e7ales<\/a>\u00a0will create a core population that will connect the two populations of the species in the Alps and Pyrenees. To facilitate movements between the new population and the Alpine and Pyrenean populations the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/4vultures.org\/pt\/life-projects\/gypconnect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LIFE GypConnect<\/a>\u00a0team is creating a network of supplementary feeding stations, and tackling threats such as poisoning, and collision and electrocution with the electricity infrastructure.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> In 2018 three birds were released in the Baronnies, building on the release of eight birds in 2017, four in the Grands Causses, two in the Baronnies and two in Vercors.
