Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission is to work for the recovery of Europe’s four vulture species by initiating, facilitating and supporting conservation actions and research by working with people and organizations.

Our Vision for Europe’s vultures is to see their populations be self-sustaining, healthy and each species having a good conservation status and occupying most of their former ranges, supported by good quality habitats, and valued by people.

Captive breeding for conservation

Using our knowledge of vulture breeding behaviour, we have significant expertise in managing vulture captive breeding programmes.

Working collaboratively we have been reintroducing vultures to areas where they have disappeared.

Protecting vultures

Vultures still face severe threats to their survival such as illegal wildlife poisoning, habitat loss, reduced food availability, collisions with electricity infrastructure and even persecution by people. We are working across Europe to tackle these threats and protect vultures.

Monitoring vultures

Using the latest technology, we are monitoring the movements of vultures in the wild to help inform conservation activities.

Collaborating with governments, businesses, local communities and non-governmental wildlife organisations, we develop and deliver conservation initiatives that are founded on the best available science and are tailored to each vulture's behaviour and ecology, the threats they face and the habitats they depend on.
