Hello from some urban Egyptian vultures!

Here in Europe we see the globally endangered Egyptian vulture as a shy bird of remote wildlands, now unfortunately confined to only a few sites of its vast former range across Europe – particularly in the Balkans, where the species is in imminent danger of extinction. And “our” Egyptian vultures are of course now all in Africa, for the winter- However, in the Indian subcontinent, where lives the subspecies gingianus, Egyptian vultures are often commensal with man, and live in urban environments.

We have just received this photo from India – where a pair of Egyptian vultures came to say good morning to office workers in a high rise building in Gurgaon, sub-urban New Delhi.

Here at the VCF we also wish you a good morning and a great Sunday!
