On the 21st September a griffon vulture was released back to the wild in the Fraga do Puio, in the Douro canyon, in the Douro International Natural Park (PNDI), within the LIFE RUPIS project area, with some students from the primary school of Sendim.

The bird had been collected by the wardens of PNDI on August 4th, weakened, near Miranda do Douro (Portugal, upper Douro canyon), and was nursed back to the wild in the wildlife rehabilitation centre (CRAS) of the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD). It was treated for arthritis, probably a result of a collision with some infrastructure.

The VCF would like to thank the staff from CRAS UTAD for the successful rehabilitation of this bird.
