About IVAD
International Vulture Awareness Day emerged in 2006 from the collaborative efforts of conservation organisations across the globe. Originally initiated by the Birds of Prey Programme of the Endangered Wildlife Trust in South Africa and the Hawk Conservancy Trust in England, this movement has transcended borders and become a beacon of hope for vulture conservation.
Today, International Vulture Awareness Day is championed by the Endangered Wildlife Trust, Hawk Conservancy Trust, and the Vulture Conservation Foundation, on behalf of the Vulture Specialist Group. Hundreds of organisers and thousands of participants have joined IVAD over the years. By joining forces, we amplify the call for vulture conservation, uniting enthusiasts, advocates, and scientists under a common cause.
Join us throughout September as we celebrate International Vulture Awareness Day (IVAD) with a series of exciting activities hosted by the Vulture Conservation Foundation (VCF).
