The indomitable anti-poisoning team in Andalusia – that over the last few years has been leading Europe´s fight against this most important of threats affecting vultures – has just published another comprehensive manual on the subject.
Developed for wildlife enforcement agents, natural park wardens and police officers who encounter the corpses of dead animals in the field, this manual aims to guide on the identification of non-natural causes of mortality, including poison.
The manual also offers advanced insight into the forensic and police investigations associated with poisoning and/or poaching cases, and gives guidelines for labelling and handling samples and other forms of evidence.
The manual was produced to complement the popular training courses given to local anti-poison brigades, and is currently only available in Spanish. But funding has been secured for English and French translations to be published next year. Please contact Iñigo Fajardo <inigo.fajardo@juntadeandalucia.es> if you want a copy.
