The VCF boards met at Parc des Oiseaux

The annual meeting of the VCF management and advisory boards was held last weekend at Parc des Oiseaux (http://www.parcdesoiseaux.com ), in Villars-Les-Dombes, near Lyon.

During an intensive weekend, vulture experts from across Europe discussed and analysed the VCF programmes, projects and activities, and planned the future ahead. They could also visit the brand new aviary for bearded vultures.

Parc des Oiseaux is the newest member of the bearded vulture captive breeding network. In record time, they have built from scratch a brand new aviary, which is now housing an adult female bearded vulture, and will receive as soon as possible a young pair for captive breeding.  The aviary was custom-built in consultation with the VCF experts to maximise the captive breeding objectives.

The VCF would like to thank the Parc des Oiseaux for all their support throughout the weekend, and also for their engagement and enthusiasm to participate in the bearded vulture captive breeding network, and the fantastic reintroduction projects that are restoring this species across the European mountains.
