Through VCF facilitation, two unrecoverable (permanently wounded) griffon vultures travelled recently from a wildlife rehabilitation center in the Algarve, Portugal (managed by RIAS) to the Bioparc Doué la Fontainein France, to enter the griffon vulture captive breeding programme there. In the past several griffons born in this zoo have been released back to the wild in several reintroduction or restocking projects. One of the griffons has a severe wing fracture after colliding with a wind farm, while the other has a feather growing malfunction that prevents it from flying.
