The Annual Bearded Vulture Meeting 2016 was held at the Nationalpark Hohe Tauern in Mittersill – Austria, from 11-13 November 2016. That year was a landmark as it was the 30th anniversary of Bearded Vulture releases in Austria!
The conference with the fascinating presentations took place on Friday and Saturday.
The National Park Hohe Tauern offered two field trip options for Sunday. The excursion Rauris and the exhibition “Könige der Lüfte”, followed by a visit to Krumltal, where in 1986 the first-ever Bearded Vultures were released and where a breeding pair was resident. At the second excursion option to the Gschlösstal, Bearded Vultures have been present year-round for some years now, and there were then first signs of the potential installation of a new breeding pair.
